Join The Association

All about the Northampton & District Organists' Association and how you too can become a member.

What does the Association do?

We organise a full programme of events including:

  • Visits to organs of interest – often including exclusive opportunities to play organs not open to the public
  • Events on organ and organ music related topics
  • An annual members’ recital
  • A reluctant organists’ day
  • Social events such as a garden party or annual dinner

What other benefits does membership bring?

  • A quarterly full-colour Newsletter giving information on local organs, meetings and events, and articles of interest to members
  • A regular circulation of details of meetings, events, recitals, appointments and vacancies for organists locally
  • A list of members available to deputise
  • Reduced subscription rates to the Organists' Review - the quarterly magazine and official journal of the Incorporated Association of Organists

Do I have to be an organist to join?

No! The Association is open to anyone who is interested in the organ and its associated activities. Non-playing members are as welcome as playing members of all levels of proficiency. We particularly welcome those learning the organ and there is no membership fee for student members.

Can the Association help the Clergy?

Yes! The Association is able to advertise local vacancies for organists or choirmasters, and maintains a list of members willing to deputise on a regular or ad hoc basis. The Secretary is also willing to circulate requests for cover - including in emergencies!

How much does it cost to be a member?

The annual subscription rates in the year 2024 are:

  • Student member (under 22 and in full time education) FREE

  • Individual member £10.00

  • Family or corporate membership (two or more members at the same address) £15.00

  • Plus an additional £10.00 for hard copies of the newsletter

Subscriptions also include the annual affiliation fee to the Incorporated Association of Organists.

There is an additional cost of £10 (to cover p&p) for those wishing to receive hard copies of our quarterly newsletters. All members can receive it by email at no extra cost.

Members are encouraged to Gift Aid their subscription in order that the Association may benefit from the income tax rebate which is achieved at no additional cost to its members.
